Amit Shah Provides Guidance to Jharkhand BJP Ahead of MMDRA Bill Protest

On the evening of August 19, a senior Jharkhand BJP team gathered in New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting, chaired by state president Aditya Sahu and opposition leader Baboolal Marandi, also included former chief ministers Arjun Munda, Raghubar Das and Champai Soren, ex‑state president Ravindra Rai, Deepak Prakash and senior party organiser Karnveer Singh.

Shah outlined a clear roadmap for the party, stressing the necessity of a unified stance on the controversial Mineral and Mining Development Regulation (MMDR) Bill, 2026. He advised the Jharkhand leaders on tailoring their outreach to miners, tribal communities and local entrepreneurs affected by the proposed regulations.

The session also reviewed the current political climate, with particular attention to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's planned rally on August 20 to oppose the bill. Shah encouraged the Jharkhand BJP to strengthen its grassroots network, enhance communication channels, and pre‑emptively address misinformation.

Analysts note that this high‑level interaction reflects the central leadership's intent to closely monitor and influence the state's response to the mining legislation, positioning the BJP to counter opposition movements effectively.
