Alleged Sexual Abuse Claim Prompts Legal Action Against Award‑Winning Coach

A decorated gymnastics mentor, recipient of the Dronacharya Award, faces serious legal repercussions after a 16‑year‑old student accused him of sexual misconduct. The incident unfolded on a Friday morning when the coach messaged the teenager on WhatsApp while she was studying at home. The minor replied, later informing her mother about the unsolicited contact.

Following the mother’s advice, the girl confronted the coach, who then asked her to meet at a gymnasium in Vile Parle if she was free. Assuming the request was related to training, the student agreed to attend. Upon arrival, the coach was alone and allegedly asked her to bring his slippers inside and close the door, before attempting to exploit her sexually. When she attempted to leave, the coach purportedly told her that the matter should stay confidential.

The victim, with the assistance of a physical‑training teacher, filed a complaint at the Vile Parle police station. The police recorded a First Information Report (FIR), invoked the POCSO Act, and have begun a forensic and digital investigation to establish the chain of events.

The case coincides with a recent hit‑and‑run incident in the same locality, where a motorcyclist struck a 15‑year‑old girl and fled the scene. Authorities used CCTV recordings to track and arrest the perpetrator, showcasing a heightened policing effort in Vile Parle.
