All parties urged to contribute to monsoon session agenda, says Speaker Birla

In a Business Advisory Committee meeting held on Sunday, Speaker Om Birla called on every parliamentary party to provide inputs on matters of public welfare that should be placed on the monsoon session docket. The session, set to begin the following Monday, will address a mix of legislative bills and other parliamentary business. Representatives from the government and opposition shared their perspectives on the items they wish to see discussed. The Speaker underscored the importance of constructive discourse, active involvement, and respect for Parliament's rich traditions. He appealed for collaborative effort to ensure the session runs efficiently and tackles issues that affect citizens directly. The BAC has logged all recommendations; the final agenda will be crafted according to established parliamentary procedures after further consultations with the government and party leaders. Previously, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting with 58 leaders from 40 parties, confirming that the monsoon session could extend until 13 August, covering 25 days and 19 sitting days. The schedule was released in the bulletin Part‑2 on 16 July by the secretariats of both houses.
