New Delhi’s Akshardham Hosts 2026 Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conference

Delhi’s Akshardham complex became the focal point of a major tourism initiative on August 11 when Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled four new spiritual‑heritage circuits. The event, titled the “Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conference 2026”, drew officials from the tourism ministry, high‑ranking dignitaries and a sizable public audience.

Among the guests, Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev toured the temple, offered reverence to its sanctity and participated in a specially arranged heritage walk that illuminated Delhi’s architectural nuances and cultural depth.

The four circuits are designed to link the city’s most visited temples, additional religious venues and a selection of historic monuments that have so far been under‑promoted on tourism maps. By bundling these sites into a single itinerary, the tourism department hopes to give travelers a holistic glimpse of Delhi’s spiritual and historic wealth.

A digital‑media drive is slated for August 12, when influencers and YouTube creators will explore the routes, later posting videos, reels and photographs to boost visibility online. This effort follows the February 2026 launch of four heritage‑cultural trails—"Delhi’s Heritage", "Delhi’s Heart", "Delhi’s Mystery" and "See Delhi with Heart"—intended to stimulate local economies and lengthen tourist stays.

Akshardham, acknowledged by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest comprehensive Hindu temple, exemplifies thousands of years of Indian architectural brilliance. Mahant Swami Maharaj, the head of the BAPS organisation that has erected more than 1,800 temples globally, led a prayer for the welfare, health and moral progress of all participants.
