Ak hilesh Yadav Questions SAR Process as Election Body Calls Removal Allegations Misleading
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has publicly challenged the Uttar Pradesh Election Commission’s handling of the Special In‑Depth Review (SIR). Yadav claims the entire SIR exercise was discarded after huge financial outlays and that a fresh voter‑registration drive is now underway.
He alleges that the SIR created millions of bogus votes, with multiple entries for the same individual in several assembly constituencies – sometimes up to ten votes per person. Yadav contended that the commission must prove its credibility by operating impartially and transparently.
The commission, however, maintains that all deletions were executed after proper notice, hearing, investigation and a court‑approved order. It reiterated that pending cases after March 6 were settled as per statutory guidelines.
The dispute underscores ongoing tensions between the state’s electoral authorities and opposition leaders over the accuracy and fairness of voter‑list revisions.
