Air Quality Improves as Rain Releases Heat in Delhi and NCR

A series of gentle showers is set to blanket Delhi and the National Capital Region for the entire week of 12‑17 August, according to the latest regional forecast. No formal weather warnings have been declared, which suggests that the heatwave that plagued the area earlier this month will be tempered.

Maximum temperature on 12 August will be 35 °C, falling to a minimum of 25 °C after sunset. Light rain is expected throughout the day.

On 13 August, the high should dip to 34 °C and the low remain at 25 °C, with relative humidity ranging from 75 % to 85 %. Cloud cover will stay extensive, with occasional drizzle.

The pattern persists on 14 August, with a maximum of 33 °C, a night low of 25 °C, and humidity near the mid‑80s. Light rain will likely continue.

Independence Day, 15 August, will experience a high of 33 °C and a low of 24 °C. Humidity may peak at 95 % and rain will be possible.

Both 16 and 17 August will see temperatures hovering around 34 °C in the day and 24 °C at night, with persistent clouds and light showers.

Air‑quality monitoring shows substantial improvement in many stations. Most locations now sit in the green AQI band, though a few exceed 100. In Delhi, Alipur records 59, Anand Vihar 214, Ashok Vihar 104, Aaya Nagar 83, Bawana 162, Burari Crossing 69, Cantonment Area 87, Chandni Chowk 98 and Commonwealth Sports Complex 76. In Noida, sector‑125 is at 78, sector‑62 at 64, sector‑1 at 77 and sector‑116 at 108. The rain has helped lower PM10 concentrations, with a reading of 93 on 10 August and 68 on 11 August at a Noida station.
