Air Pollution Levels Drop Across NCR After October Showers

Recent measurements from the Pollution Control Board indicate a marked improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) for the National Capital Region. Green zone readings were recorded in key locations: Cantonment (24), Badarpur (39), Burari (60), Ayana Nagar (64) and Ashok Vihar (67). Even the outer suburbs like Bawana (98) and Anand Vihar (99) remain within the satisfactory range.

In Noida, sector‑1 posted an AQI of 59, sector‑125 recorded 65, sector‑116 showed 80, while sector‑62 rose to 101, still classified as satisfactory. Nearby Ghaziabad districts similarly reported greener numbers, with Govindpur at 36 and Sanjay Nagar at 87.

The decline in pollutants is directly linked to the recent rainfall and the drop in temperature, which together help disperse dust and reduce the formation of ground‑level ozone. While the current trend is positive, officials warn that the end of October and early November could see a resurgence in smog due to crop‑burning and holiday celebrations.
