Ahmedabad Authorities Deploy Bomb Squad Following School Threats
The Ahmedabad police department, together with fire services and a dedicated bomb‑detection team, arrived at ten school campuses on October 7 after receiving credible bomb threats. The swift action resulted in an accelerated dismissal of students from all affected institutions.
Most of the schools under threat are located in the western sector of the city. Zaidus School in Vejalpur was among the first to announce an early release, followed by Bodkdev School for Children, SGVP School, Sant Kabir School on Drive‑In Road and Asia School. Security personnel combed each compound, checking classrooms, corridors and playgrounds for suspicious objects.
Parents were promptly informed through school communication channels, and many began organizing transportation for their children. While the exact source of the threats remains unknown, investigators are reviewing email logs and interviewing staff to trace the origin.
This episode follows a string of previous alerts in the region. In September, a batch of emails threatened to bomb ten schools, three courts and the Gujarat Legislative Assembly; subsequent investigations uncovered no explosive material and the warnings were deemed hoaxes. In January, more than fifteen schools faced similar emails, prompting a joint operation by a special operations group, bomb disposal units and dog squads, again without finding any bombs.
Authorities continue to keep all campuses under heightened watch and have urged the public to remain vigilant.
