Ahir’s Multifaceted Leadership Compared to Cricket Legend Sachian Tendulkar
Mumbai, July 1 – During a ceremonial speech, Deputy Chief Minister Ek Nath Shinde drew a vivid parallel between Sachin Ahir’s political journey and the career of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Shinde congratulated Ahir on his uncontested election as Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council and declared him a "master blaster" in both governance and social outreach.
Shinde emphasized that each individual has a unique style, yet Ahir brings an all‑round skill set to the team – a bowler who can bowl fast and a batsman who can smash sixes. Just as Tendulkar retired as a legend, Ahir is stepping into a fresh innings of responsibility, Shinde said.
The Deputy Chief Minister reminded listeners that Ahir received the Shiv Sena’s ticket in the 2019 assembly polls and reiterated his status as a staunch “Shivsainik.” He also lauded Ahir’s calm temperament, quoting Urdu couplets that praise a person who remains serene in a storm and commands every heart.
Shinde highlighted Ahir’s social contributions, notably the conversion of the Dahi Handi celebration into a platform for medical camps and blood‑donation drives, echoing Bal Thackeray’s “80 % social work, 20 % politics” philosophy.
Concluding his remarks, Shinde urged Ahir to uphold impartiality in the council, stating that once seated, the norms of the chair outrank party directives and that justice must be equally extended to the opposition. The Deputy Chief Minister called for the supremacy of constitutional values and true justice over partisan interests.
