Agriculture Minister Directs Study of Totapuri Mango Value Chain in Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi – Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has instructed ICAR to form a multidisciplinary expert committee to analyse the complete Totapuri mango value chain in Andhra Pradesh.

The move aims to address the severe income pressure on mango producers caused by a sustained fall in farm‑gate rates.

The committee will evaluate every stage—from orchard management and harvest costs to processing, logistics, marketing, and export procedures. It will also assess the capacity of existing processing units and explore opportunities for value addition.

Members are mandated to complete a ground‑level survey of principal Totapuri zones within ten days, engaging directly with growers, processing firms, export agencies and state agricultural officials.

Based on scientific analysis and stakeholder feedback, the panel will submit a detailed report recommending policy interventions, subsidy adjustments and market‑linkage strategies to enhance farmer earnings and ensure long‑term sectoral sustainability.
