Adani Energy Solutions Limited is rewriting the rules of India’s power sector. On Thursday, the Ahmedabad-based firm revealed it has delivered a staggering one crore smart electricity meters to discoms, emerging as the pioneer in India and potentially globally. Plans are underway for another crore by fiscal year 2027.
As the nation’s top AMISP, AESL shoulders the responsibility of 2.5 crore meter installations in five states. Operating at a blistering pace of 25,000 daily installs—the highest in the sector—the company is transforming how electricity is measured and managed.
‘Crossing one crore is a testament to our operational excellence and deep partnerships,’ said AESL CEO Kandarp Patel. He emphasized that smart meters go beyond hardware, enabling real-time insights, grid strengthening, loss minimization, and smarter energy use.
This early success beats AESL’s 2026 deadline, underscoring its commitment to digitizing retail distribution under RDSS. The initiative supports India’s ambitious goal of upgrading 25 crore meters, providing invaluable data for consumption tracking and grid upgrades.
Consumers benefit from instant access to usage info, transparent billing, and robust utility performance. AESL’s ecosystem includes collaborations with Adani group entities for data hosting and top-tier meter suppliers for reliability.
From inception in 2024 to this landmark in mere two years, Adani has set a new standard. This surge in smart metering promises a more efficient, loss-free power ecosystem, propelling India towards energy independence.
