Anti‑Corruption Bureau orders suspension of SOG officer in Rs2 crore scandal

Following a detailed report by the Anti‑Corruption Bureau, the Rajasthan government has taken decisive action against ASP Mukesh Kumar Soni of the Special Operation Group. Soni is accused of orchestrating a Rs 2 crore kickback in exchange for relief to accused parties in a sprawling land dispute covering 272 Udaipur plots. The ACB’s investigation revealed that Soni met the alleged middleman at his residence, altered meeting times repeatedly, and communicated the bribe demand via typed messages rather than verbal exchanges. Files recovered from his office contained manipulated plot numbers and forged Urban Development Authority stamps. The Home Department, after securing the Chief Minister’s approval, issued the suspension order, which is now in effect.
