ABVP leader calls for swift capture of fugitive Tariq Anwar

Prasad Choudhary, heading the ABVP unit in Malda (North), condemned the recent misconduct by TMCP members, labeling it a repeated pattern of disrespect toward national symbols. He highlighted the August 22 incident where a Swami Vivekananda poster was shredded, and the ABVP flag was torn and stepped on.

Choudhary appealed to the police to expedite the capture of the main accused, Tariq Anwar, emphasizing that Vivekananda remains a revered figure in the country and any insult to his image is intolerable.

He reminded the public of the 2024 Tagore portrait burning case involving the same student wing, which resulted in large-scale protests led by then-opposition leader and current Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The repeated controversies have placed the TMCP's Chanchal College unit under intense scrutiny.
