Abu Azmi Slams UP Law and Order, Says BJP Days Are Limited
Lucknow, October 23: Samajwadi Party leader and Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi on Friday said the BJP's time in power is nearly over. He claimed that people nationwide have become tired of the party and expressed hope that the Samajwadi Party would secure victory in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
In a conversation with the media, Azmi said his party is working on its poll strategy and believes the BJP will soon be removed from office.
He repeated that the BJP's days are limited and that the whole country is disillusioned with it. With little time remaining, he said, the BJP is free to say what it wants, but the Samajwadi Party is certain to win in 2027 and the BJP will have to give up power.
Azmi also criticised the Uttar Pradesh government over its handling of law and order. He alleged that the state is grappling with serious problems in this area, causing distress among people from different sections of society. He questioned what the ruling party could say in its defence, arguing that the state had been brought to a difficult condition.
He went on to describe the law and order situation as very bad and asked whether authorities could see what was happening. According to him, everyone is troubled, chaos has been created, and the rule of law has been lost. Farmers are unhappy, youth are struggling, schools are shutting, and people are enduring hardship.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav also struck an optimistic tone about the party's prospects in the biennial Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council polls. Casting his vote in Etawah, he said trends in Etawah, Firozabad, Agra and Aligarh were favourable to the Samajwadi Party and that both of its candidates were expected to win.
Assembly elections for all 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly are expected in February-March 2027.
