Abhishek Banerjee’s Personal Account Unfrozen Following Court Hearing

Abhishek Banerjee, a senior leader of the Trinamool Congress, approached the Kolkata High Court after his personal bank account was frozen and his payment cards were blocked without prior notice. The bank cited a missing KYC update as the reason for the freeze. During the court session, the bank confirmed that the required KYC information had been supplied, resulting in the immediate unfreezing of the account and reactivation of the debit and credit cards. The judge, Justice Rav, accepted the bank’s clarification and closed the case, while also directing the bank to adopt a policy of informing customers before imposing any transaction restrictions.
