Abhijit Dipke Accuses Delhi Police of Forceful Kidnap at Jantar Mantar
A high‑profile confrontation unfolded on Saturday when Delhi police took activist Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital for urgent care, citing a decline in his health during a 20‑day hunger strike. The decision, backed by a court order, has ignited a debate on social platforms.
Abhijit Dipke, a well‑known political leader, wrote on X that police are imposing harsh measures at the Jantar Mantar protest site, physically assaulting participants and forcibly transporting Wangchuk to a medical facility.
The same user, operating under the alias “cockroach‑is‑back,” shared a video clip of Dipke denouncing the police for allegedly beating protesters and using a severe lathi charge.
Medical professional Geetanjali J. Angmo posted from Safdarjung Hospital, emphasizing that any treatment for Wangchuk must be authorized by his relatives and doctors, who have been monitoring his health closely.
DCP Sachin Sharma, in a briefing with journalists, explained that the police action aligns with a High Court order and medical advice, and confirmed that Wangchuk is now under continuous observation.
Police officials appealed for public cooperation, asking citizens not to hinder government operations.
