PUNJAB POLITICS HEATS UP: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) unleashed a scathing critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, accusing it of siphoning government coffers to bankroll a rally in Moga. What was billed as part of the ‘War Against Drugs’ drive has been exposed as a covert election campaign launch for 2027, according to SAD.
Daljit Singh Cheema, a prominent SAD figure, called out the misuse in no uncertain terms. Addressing the media, he revealed how state machinery was mobilized: buses for attendees, full event costs borne by the exchequer, all orchestrated under the watchful eyes of Arvind Kejriwal and his Delhi team.
“AAP is playing a dangerous game of deceit,” Cheema stated firmly. “They draped political rhetoric and opponent-bashing in the cloak of anti-drug efforts. This rally wasn’t government work—it was pure campaign fodder.”
Demanding accountability, Cheema petitioned Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and the Election Commission to probe the expenditures and enforce recovery from AAP. He stressed that such events breach electoral guidelines and erode public trust.
Further escalating his charges, Cheema spotlighted the coercion of senior officials. The Chief Secretary and DGP were reportedly compelled to grace the political stage, a move he decried as the beginning of bureaucratic capture.
In a stark warning, he envisioned a dystopian future: “Local administrators turned into AAP cheerleaders at every rally. Independent elections? A pipe dream under this regime.” SAD’s offensive underscores deepening rifts in Punjab’s political landscape, where AAP’s promises of clean governance face their toughest scrutiny yet.
As opposition voices grow louder, this scandal could ripple through the state’s administrative corridors, forcing AAP into defensive mode. Watch this space for official rebuttals and potential investigations.
