AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, currently detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA), has sent a message from jail. According to AAP spokesperson Appu Singh Slathia, Malik appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to visit his constituency in the Doda district and assess the damage caused by the recent floods. The MLA also expressed concern over the frequent closures of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, stating that it has caused losses worth thousands of crores to apple growers in the valley. Malik, who is also the president of the AAP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, requested the Chief Minister to oversee the relief, rehabilitation, and compensation efforts in his constituency, specifically highlighting the region’s economic dependence on the apple industry and horticulture, which has suffered greatly due to highway closures this year. Malik was arrested on September 8th in Doda district under the PSA for allegedly disrupting public order and is currently held in Kathua District Jail.
