70-Year-Old Romanian Traveler Passes Away in Rajasthan Hospital After Acute Breathlessness
A senior Romanian tourist, identified as Korina Iyakob, died on Saturday following a sudden episode of breathlessness and chest pain while on a cultural tour of Rajasthan’s Shekhawati region.
Iyakob arrived in India on November 4 together with a party of 32 overseas visitors. The group spent Friday night at the Vivana Hotel located in Churi Ajitgarh, Jhunjhunu district.
At approximately 09:00 hours on November 7, she experienced a sharp tightening in her chest and struggled to breathe. Hotel staff promptly arranged ambulance transport to the nearest government medical centre in Mukundgarh.
After receiving emergency stabilization, doctors judged her condition to be life‑threatening and shifted her to Navalgadh’s government hospital. Upon admission, the medical team declared her deceased.
Initial medical assessment leans toward a heart attack, though a conclusive diagnosis will await a full autopsy and judicial review. Local police, led by officers Gopal Singh Thalor and Sugan Singh, are investigating the case. The Romanian embassy has been officially notified, and arrangements are being made for the family’s arrival and subsequent legal processes.
