527 People Pulled to Safety as Monsoon Floods Hit Madhya Pradesh

The ongoing monsoon in Madhya Pradesh has caused rivers to rise dramatically, flooding low‑lying villages and creating life‑threatening situations for many residents. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav disclosed that rescue teams have successfully rescued 527 individuals to date. The storm, which launched on Sunday, extended its impact into Tuesday, disrupting transportation and daily activities across Bhopal and surrounding districts.

Yadav noted that while the overall rainfall is about 15 % less than typical monsoon levels, intense localized showers have resulted in severe flooding in certain pockets. Emergency responders, including a team that extracted seven people from the Khandoa region, have been operating continuously, day and night, to reach those trapped.

The chief minister personally reviewed flood updates through a video conference with the Home Guard and other officials, speaking directly with survivors. He urged people living near riverbanks and drainage channels to exercise extreme caution, follow evacuation orders, and coordinate with nearby districts for assistance if required. State authorities are maintaining a comprehensive monitoring system to ensure rapid response and relief distribution.
