Alleged 500 crore land dispute fuels political clash over school trust documents

New Delhi, August 24 – A dispute over land worth an estimated 500 crore rupees owned by the SS Motash Singh School Trust has ignited a political showdown between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Delhi BJP government. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the administration of deliberately withholding the trust’s file despite a clear directive from the Delhi High Court.

The High Court order, dated July 8, 2026, mandated that the revenue department, the divisional commissioner, and the district magistrate produce the trust’s records or, if unavailable, reconstruct them through legal channels. A one‑month window was provided, ending on August 8, yet the government has offered no concrete response.

Bhardwaj argued that the missing file could contain the names of individuals poised to become trustees of the trust, potentially enabling a takeover of the valuable land. He questioned whether political actors should be allowed to intervene in the management of a minority Sikh institution.

He raised the issue directly with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, demanding an explanation for the government’s reluctance. Bhardwaj also cited a Facebook post in which Amarjit Singh Babu thanked Delhi minister Pravesh Verma for appointing him as a trustee of the school. When Bhardwaj pursued the claim, Verma reportedly filed a defamation case.

The AAP leader stressed that the controversy is not limited to a single document; it reflects broader concerns about transparency, asset management, and the process of appointing trustees. He warned that the party will continue to highlight the matter and release additional facts, urging the BJP government to comply with the court’s order and to hold accountable anyone responsible for the disappearance of the records.
