48 Crore Worth of Drugs Seized at Delhi IGI Airport

Customs officers at Delhi’s IGI Airport made a significant breakthrough on Friday when they detained two Thai passengers carrying a massive consignment of hydroponic weed valued at 48 crore rupees. The seizure took place after the travelers had passed through the green channel, but targeted profiling led officers to conduct a detailed baggage check. The operation resulted in the recovery of 47.8 kilograms of suspected cannabis concealed in vacuum-sealed packets. Four packets totaling 29 kilograms were found in one passenger’s luggage, while two additional packets weighing 19 kilograms were recovered from the second traveler. Officials described the find as one of the biggest drug hauls at the airport in recent times. The case has drawn attention to the growing sophistication of smuggling attempts through air routes. Investigators are now focusing on the possible networks behind the operation, including any handlers who may have facilitated the movement of the consignment from Thailand. Both suspects are being questioned, and authorities have indicated that more arrests could follow as the probe deepens.
