44 Lost Handsets Restored to Users After Delhi Police Raid

In a city‑wide raid that spanned ten days in early July, Delhi’s district police managed to locate 67 mobile phones that had been reported missing or stolen. The raid, carried out by mobile‑crack teams attached to every police station and special units, relied on a mix of electronic tracking, field intel and digital data analysis.

Barakhamba Road emerged as the lead recovery zone with 16 phones, while North Avenue, Duty Path and Temple Marg contributed 12, 11 and 9 devices respectively. Additional recoveries were recorded at Tugluk Road (5), Chanakypuri and South Avenue (4 each), Connaught Place (3), Tilak Marg (2) and a single handset seized by a special staff group.

After a detailed verification process, 44 of the found phones have already been handed back to their owners. The returns break down as follows: Barakhamba Road – 13, North Avenue – 8, Duty Path – 5, Temple Marg – 5, Tugluk Road – 4, South Avenue – 4, Connaught Place – 3 and Tilak Marg – 2.

The remaining 23 phones are undergoing final ownership checks and will be returned once the paperwork is complete. Police spokespersons said the operation was intended to provide swift redress for victims and to reinforce public faith in the police’s ability to protect citizen assets.

Officials expect that the quick restitution of these handsets will serve as a deterrent to future thefts and encourage more people to report lost devices promptly.
