₹3,070 Crore Worth of Defence Items to Be Developed Domestically

New Delhi, August 18 – In a decisive step toward the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, the Ministry of Defence’s Production Division unveiled its sixth Positive Indigenous Procurement List, featuring 405 defence items valued at roughly INR 3,070 crore. The extensive list covers a broad range of hardware: from fighter‑jet engines and helicopter subsystems to tank armaments, missile modules, radar, sonar and communication gear.

The portfolio includes 16 items for the Indian Coast Guard and 389 items associated with public‑sector defence entities. Air‑domain entries incorporate the Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Sukhoi‑30MKI, Light Combat Aircraft and AL‑31FP engine components. Land‑domain listings detail vital accessories for T‑72, T‑90 and BMP‑2 platforms.

Strategic missile systems such as Kongsberg‑M, Inwas and MRSAAM are slated for full domestic production, alongside high‑explosive anti‑tank ammunition. The programme also earmarks radar, sonar, fire‑control and satellite communication systems for indigenous development. Each item carries a target timeline; successful indigenisation will trigger exclusive procurement from Indian firms, providing a substantial market boost for the defence industry, especially small and medium enterprises.
