The National Investigation Agency delivered a decisive blow to banned outfit Popular Front of India by arresting a long-time fugitive at Kochi International Airport. Returning from Dubai, Moideenkutty PK, a resident of Kattipparuthi in Malappuram, Kerala, was taken into custody on February 18, ending a three-year chase.
Moideenkutty coordinated PFI’s so-called physical education training, which NIA probes reveal masked intensive arms instruction and radicalization efforts. The agency registered the case in September 2022 amid evidence of PFI’s plot to incite communal hatred, train youth in combat, and amass funds for violence.
Searches at his locations uncovered damning materials, painting a chilling picture of PFI’s operations. Specialized wings handled propaganda, training, and logistics, all geared toward a 2047 goal of Islamic governance in India. Fitness camps doubled as firing ranges for indoctrinated recruits.
With 65 charge sheets filed, the probe remains active, targeting remaining fugitives. This follows the recent indictment of Imtathullah for sheltering perpetrators of the brutal 2019 Ramalingam killing by PFI operatives.
Security experts hail the arrest as a testament to persistent intelligence work. It disrupts PFI’s remnants and signals zero tolerance for groups plotting against India’s secular fabric. Further revelations are expected as interrogation intensifies.
