Jamshedpur erupted into action Thursday night as police engaged in a fierce gun battle with three fugitives wanted in the kidnapping of industrialist Kairav Gandhi’s son. The confrontation, lasting from 2:30 to 3 AM near Bistupur’s Sai Temple, ended with the suspects hospitalized at MGM Medical College after sustaining leg injuries.
What started as a weapon recovery expedition at the abduction site turned perilous. The trio—Guddu Singh from Gaya, Mohammad Imran, and Ramiz Raja from Nalanda—lunged for a police carbine and unleashed a barrage of bullets. Officers fired back, targeting lower limbs to subdue the attackers.
Station House Officer Alok Dubey dodged bullets in the chaos, crediting quick reflexes for his safety. Speaking to reporters, SP Kumar Shivasish detailed the self-defense protocol, noting the seizure of firearms including a carbine. These men, key players in the 13-day ordeal that gripped the city, had evaded capture while armed and hiding.
The rescue of young Kairav had already showcased police prowess, but this shootout accelerates the crackdown.
