Customs personnel at Ahmedabad's international gateway have confiscated a 24‑carat gold bar concealed within a traveller's body, marking another high‑profile bust in recent weeks. The 24‑year‑old suspect from Godhra arrived on Qatar Airways flight QR‑534 after transiting through Doha on August 9. A targeted body scan revealed 467.09 grams of gold paste hidden internally. After processing, the paste yielded a solid gold bar weighing 422.83 grams, with an estimated market price of 6,569,087 rupees (approximately 65.69 lakh).

The seizure was executed under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, leading to the immediate arrest of the individual for further interrogation. This case mirrors two prior incidents at the same airport: a July 29 stop of a woman arriving from Dubai, where officials seized 244.16 grams of gold paste, and a March interception involving a passenger from Kuala Lumpur who carried capsules with 553.07 grams of 999‑purity gold, valued at 8.33 million rupees.

Such operations demonstrate the increasing sophistication of gold smuggling schemes and the effectiveness of airport customs intelligence in detecting concealed contraband.
