2027 Polls: Amit Shah Sets Tone at Lucknow Party Meeting
The BJP's organisational machinery in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for the 2027 assembly elections, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Lucknow on Friday has become a key moment in that effort. Shah arrived to inaugurate the party's state working committee meeting.
At the airport, Shah was received by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state president Pankaj Chaudhary, and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak. From there, he travelled to the auditorium of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, where the meeting was held.
The event opened with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Shah, the Chief Minister, state party leaders, and the two Deputy Chief Ministers. Several senior office-bearers were present, including Dharmpal Singh and Vinod Tawde.
Pankaj Chaudhary said the party's workers would take up the 2027 goal with fresh vigour, supported by Shah's guidance. Maurya said the meeting was the first held under Chaudhary's leadership since the new state organisation was constituted, and described Shah as a skilled strategist who had led several campaigns in the state with consistent success.
Brajesh Pathak said Shah was like a guardian to the party's workers and would give the state organisation new energy. Pathak also criticised the Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav, stating that the people of Uttar Pradesh were with the BJP.
Leaders from across the party, including MPs Ravi Kishan, Shashank Mani Tripathi and Sakshi Maharaj, and minister Jaivir Singh, expressed confidence about the upcoming polls. Sakshi Maharaj said the party was moving toward a target of more than 300 seats.
The meeting is likely to review the current organisational situation, expand activity down to the booth level, assign responsibilities to workers, and finalise campaign messaging. Opposition strategy against the Samajwadi Party, Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party is also expected to be on the agenda. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the closing session.
