Delhi Police’s Kishangarh station in South-West district delivered a major win against auto theft, arresting two sharp criminals behind multiple alloy wheel heists. Leveraging CCTV footage and tech-driven tracking, the force dismantled the duo’s operations in record time.
Seized items included three Chery alloy wheel tires, wheel-removal tools, and the perpetrators’ Hyundai Aura getaway car. Ankit, 37, and Ketan Tokas, both New Delhi locals, were nabbed after confessing to thefts fueled by their narcotics dependency.
It all began with V Kumar’s January 29 complaint of his Hyundai Aura’s wheels being stolen from a parking spot, prompting an immediate e-FIR under BNS provisions. Officers dove into local CCTV, identifying suspects circling the car on January 28 evening around 5:30 PM. A key Hyundai vehicle in the footage was registered to Ankit.
Surveillance via mobile data revealed their haunts in Lajpat Nagar, Mahipalpur, and Kishangarh. A strategic ambush caught Ankit red-handed with the car. His interrogation spilled details, recovering the loot, and led to Ketan’s capture with incriminating tools.
The task force, comprising SI Dharmendra, HCs Yogesh and Ashok, and Constables Sanjeev and Dharmendra, operated under SHO Inspector Ajay Kumar Yadav and ACP Melvin Vergis. Once a professional driver turned Rapido operator, Ankit’s crew targeted wheels to bankroll drug buys.
Three Kishangarh theft cases now stand solved, underscoring police vigilance, as probes continue for broader networks.
