Tensions in Jamshedpur’s Golmuri simmer down as police crack the chilling assassination of fruit trader Kanhaiya Yadav. Two main culprits, Sumit Singh and Gurupreet Singh, are now in custody, with the deadly pistol used in the February 11 attack seized from their pointers.
The premeditated attack unfolded near Golmuri police station, where gunmen unleashed a barrage of bullets on Yadav at point-blank range. He sustained fatal wounds—two to the skull, one to the stomach, and one to the leg—collapsing dead on the spot. Eyewitness and aide Ranjeet Sharma alias Kali survived by darting into the adjacent DSP office premises amid the chaos.
Kusum Devi, the grieving widow, filed the initial report implicating Pradeep ‘Billa’ Pathak, Golu Pathak, Sumit Singh, Anurag Mishra, and an unknown assailant. The murder sparked immediate unrest: crowds surrounded the thana overnight on Wednesday, followed by a roadblock at Tinplate Chowk the next dawn, halting vehicular movement.
Interrogation of the arrested pair continues round-the-clock, while dedicated squads raid potential shelters. Police sources indicate deeper motives may surface, promising full closure. This development marks a crucial step in addressing rising lawlessness concerns in the industrial hub, with authorities pledging no leniency for the guilty.
