In a single day, 188 young professionals in Kolkata secured government jobs through the nationwide 19th National Employment Fair. The Sealdah auditorium, named after Dr. B.C. Roy, became the focal point for Eastern Railway and AAI recruitments. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar told the gathering that the process remained free from any malpractice, setting a benchmark for future drives. Railway officials confirmed that posts were distributed across electrical, signaling, and loco pilot cadres to meet the needs of an expanding network. Kaushik Singh, who will work as a Junior Engineer in the electrical department, described the moment as the start of a new chapter. Tamal Pal, selected as Assistant Loco Pilot in the Sealdah division, said the opportunity exceeded his expectations. Ajay Yadav, Rahul Bhagat, and Khushdil Yasin also received letters, each highlighting how merit-based selection restored their faith in public recruitment systems. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior railway officers joined the distribution ceremony, signaling strong coordination between state and central agencies. The event not only provided immediate employment but also inspired other aspirants still waiting for their turn in subsequent fairs.
