153 Additional Aam Aadmi Clinics Bring Total to 1,245 Across Punjab
Punjab's health ministry announced the commissioning of 153 more Aam Aadmi Clinics on October 14, raising the total number of government‑run free health outlets to 1,245.
The newly opened centres, inaugurated by CM Bhagwant Mann in Hoshiarpur, will each provide 107 essential drugs and 47 diagnostic tests completely free of charge. So far, the scheme has delivered 6.48 crore outpatient services and more than 3.63 crore free laboratory investigations to patients across the state.
The previous expansion in July added 100 clinics, splitting 73 in urban pockets and 27 in rural areas, thereby extending coverage to both towns and villages. The clinics focus on common health concerns such as fever, cold, diabetes, hypertension, and also offer free laboratory work including sugar, typhoid and routine blood tests.
Staffed by an MBBS doctor (or a tele‑consultation setup), a pharmacist, and support personnel, each centre is built to ensure rapid, low‑cost medical care for every citizen.
