Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greenlights the inclusion of all cantonment hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat umbrella. Ayushman cardholders stand to gain immensely, with free treatment soon available at 12 more facilities following MoU signings with the State Health Agency (SACHI).
Out of 13 cantonment hospitals statewide, Prayagraj’s has been a trailblazer since early 2026, offering gratis care for severe conditions like heart diseases, kidney disorders, and various cancers. Free consultations, tests, and ambulance services have yielded impressive results, inspiring the broader rollout.
CEO Archana Verma shared that the Prayagraj model has proven effective, prompting swift action for cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi. Additional CEO Dr. Puja Yadav added that these hospitals will provide elite specialist services, free transport for vulnerable patients, and streamlined digital integration for billing and claims.
This strategic partnership opens army hospital amenities to civilians, particularly those battling life-threatening illnesses. It alleviates financial burdens on low-income families and balances the load on existing panel hospitals. As processes align with Ayushman standards, UP residents can expect faster, more reliable care, underscoring the Yogi government’s commitment to universal health coverage.
