West Bengal Government Opposes Banerjee's Request to Travel Abroad for Medical Care

The state administration of West Bengal has formally objected to Abhishek Banerjee’s plea for permission to leave the country for eye treatment. In a written submission, the Additional Advocate General highlighted pending criminal charges and alleged hate‑speech allegations against the MP, warning that his travel could impede investigations.

The government’s stance aligns with the High Court’s earlier instruction for Banerjee to seek advice from local ophthalmologists before seeking overseas care. The court extended his interim protection until October 6, while the medical board’s report remains pending.
