TB Elimination Targets Met Over 95% in Delhi, Says CM

New Delhi, 4 Aug – Chief Minister Rekha Gupta affirmed on Tuesday that Delhi’s performance in the TB Free India campaign has consistently surpassed 95 percent of the annual detection and registration benchmarks set by the central government.

Speaking at a workshop that brought together lawmakers, corporate leaders and social organisations, Gupta reiterated the state’s total commitment to the national objective of a TB‑free nation. She noted that with prompt diagnosis and adherence to the full treatment regimen, tuberculosis can be completely cured, allowing patients to return to normal life.

The minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s farsighted guidance, which has transformed the TB eradication programme into a mass‑participation movement across the country. She urged every citizen to play an active role in meeting the deadline for eliminating the disease.

The event, facilitated by the National Health Mission and the Delhi State Health Mission at the secretariat, displayed an informative video on TB awareness and a detailed presentation on the campaign’s past successes, current status and future action plan.

Gupta inspected several informational booths, focusing on the “Nikshep Mitra” exhibit that showcases nutritional assistance, community engagement, patient rehabilitation, and digital support mechanisms for TB patients. She instructed officials to expand the programme’s footprint to each ward, assembly constituency and neighbourhood, ensuring maximum public participation.
