Ayush Guidelines Aim to Standardize Care for Psoriasis, Vitiligo and Dermatitis

In a move to elevate the quality of skin‑care services, the Ministry of Ayush has published Standard Treatment Guidelines that specifically target common disorders such as psoriasis, vitiligo and dermatitis. The document, prepared by the Ayush Division of the Directorate General of Health Services, sets out uniform diagnostic pathways, treatment algorithms and follow‑up protocols for each of the four traditional systems—Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy—while also recommending Yoga as an adjunct therapy. The guidelines stress the importance of evidence‑backed practice, aiming to reduce variability in patient outcomes across the country. Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav highlighted that the new framework will integrate AYUSH modalities more closely with mainstream health services, encouraging safe, effective and holistic patient management. The standards were released on Ayurveda Day and have undergone extensive review by research councils, senior academic experts and clinicians working in both rural and urban health settings.
