Medical bulletin shows low potassium and dehydration in activist Sonam Wangchuk

According to a detailed medical bulletin released by Safdarjung Hospital and the affiliated VMMC, Sonam Wangchuk arrived at the emergency ward at 7:40 a.m. on July 18. He was fully conscious, with stable pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Laboratory tests, however, revealed significant physiological stress: a serum potassium concentration of 2.9 milliequivalents per litre, a blood glucose level of 78 mg/dL, and evidence of dehydration. Urine analysis showed ketone bodies rising from 1+ in the early hours to 3+ by 1 p.m., indicating ongoing metabolic imbalance.

Doctors recommended intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solutions, and essential medications to correct the electrolyte disturbance and address the dehydration. The bulletin noted that Wangchuk declined the suggested treatments. Hospital officials stated that they are continuously monitoring his condition and are engaged in ongoing discussions with the family to obtain consent for the necessary interventions.
