Rural health training centre in Najafgarh sees infrastructure upgrades, says Nadda

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda chaired a review session on Monday at the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) in Najafgarh, West Delhi, to assess the progress made since the last meeting on 13 April.

The minister examined improvements in patient care, facility infrastructure, staffing, academic initiatives and the deployment of digital health systems. He instructed all agencies to complete pending tasks promptly and to align their actions for coordinated implementation.

Nadda highlighted that the Najafgarh RHTC has achieved notable progress in strengthening its clinical manpower and service delivery. He reiterated the need for the centre to evolve into a comprehensive hub for patient care, medical education, nursing, health training and community‑centric healthcare through synchronized and time‑bound measures.

Key facilities now include a fully functional OPD, emergency department, anti‑rabies vaccination centre, anti‑snake venom unit, generic medicines store, CSDS, laboratory and ambulance services. A minor operation theatre is also operational. The centre is linked to MedlepR for medico‑legal matters and to the PM‑JAY scheme under Ayushman Bharat, simplifying beneficiary access.

The RHTC is pursuing NQAS certification for its Urban Primary Health Centre and is working toward model PHC development. It records an average of 47,000 OPD consultations and 9,000 emergency cases each month, with 221 minor procedures performed in August. TB screening is integrated into routine OPD and PHC visits under the TB‑Free India campaign.

Collaboration with central institutions such as Safdarjung Hospital, ABVIMS, RML Hospital and NIMR is strengthening clinical staffing, training, digital platforms, procurement and research. The centre has also joined the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative. Senior officials, including the Union Health Secretary and the Director General of Health Services, participated in the meeting.
