In Perambur, Chennai, women activists rallied outside the MLA office of CM C. Joseph Vijay, demanding faster action on sewage and other civic amenities in the Kodungaiyur neighbourhood.

The office, situated on First Street, Sharma Nagar, is intended to serve as a hub for registering citizen grievances through a specialized smartphone app. Despite this system and a dedicated crew of ten staff members, the community says the drainage issue remains unresolved, with waste water continuously spilling onto public roads.

The demonstrators argued that ongoing litigation should not hinder the provision of basic sanitation and public health facilities. They referenced promises made by the ruling party to tackle long‑standing infrastructure problems.

After a heated discussion involving police and party cadres, officials assured the crowd that concrete steps would be taken promptly. The women ended their protest after receiving the pledge, while law enforcement continued to monitor the premises until the situation normalized.
