Regulatory crackdown: Reactin Plus tablets found misbranded, leading to licence withdrawal
In a high‑profile enforcement action, Maharashtra’s FDA has withdrawn the C&F licence of Cipira Pharma & Life Sciences Ltd after discovering that its Reactin Plus tablets were misbranded. The June 2026 warehouse audit uncovered that the packaging falsely advertised the product as an “analgesic and antipyretic,” a claim not permitted under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940.
Reactin Plus is a Schedule‑H drug that must be sold only on a doctor’s prescription. The agency seized ₹11.19 lakh worth of the misbranded stock and ordered an immediate market recall.
The company’s partial compliance with the recall instruction prompted the FDA to take a stern step and cancel its C&F licence on August 27, 2026. The department warned that any future violations will attract similarly stringent penalties to protect public health.
