Regional Effort Prioritizes Early Detection, Treatment and Vaccine Development for TB

The new framework calls for patient‑centred care that includes high‑quality therapy for drug‑resistant TB, nutrition support, community‑based assistance and removal of social, financial and geographic barriers. Preventive therapy will be offered to household contacts and other high‑risk individuals, while nutrition, diabetes management and tobacco control are integrated to curb major comorbidities. The model predicts the greatest reductions in cases and deaths when rapid testing, public‑private partnership, targeted prevention, active case‑finding and vaccine deployment are combined.
