Pune division also sees crackdown on restaurants for sanitation lapses

The crackdown was not limited to Mumbai. In the Pune division, two establishments were targeted for comparable violations. Hotel Malhar Vada in Kolhapur and Pooram Chand & Sons in Pune have both had their licences suspended after inspectors uncovered serious deficiencies in food‑storage temperature, cleaning practices and overall hygiene.

Authorities reported that the cold‑storage units at these venues were operating above the permissible temperature range, and that cleaning routines for kitchen surfaces and equipment were insufficient. The findings led to immediate suspension of operating permissions, pending corrective actions and potential further legal steps.

The coordinated effort across both Mumbai and Pune reflects a statewide push to raise the bar for food safety, ensuring that restaurants and food manufacturers adhere to strict standards before serving the public.
