Public‑Private Partnership to Boost Healthcare in Gujarat’s Tribal Border Region

The partnership between the Gujarat state and the UNM Foundation exemplifies a strategic public‑private model aimed at uplifting health standards in remote tribal zones. The transitional hospital already handles up to 1,200 outpatients daily and provides critical‑care services through 34 ICU and 12 NICU/PICU beds. With four fully equipped operation theatres, a minor emergency OT and a post‑mortem OT, the facility is prepared for a broad range of procedures. Complementary services such as advanced pathology, microbiology, blood storage, radiology, and an eight‑bed dialysis unit ensure comprehensive patient care. The forthcoming 800‑bed hospital and medical college will further consolidate health‑care delivery, training future doctors from the local community and fostering long‑term sustainability.
