Police Probe Auto Driver Link to Deaths of Pregnant Woman in Kerala
Kerala police are investigating the role of an auto‑rickshaw driver in the deaths of a 30‑year‑old pregnant woman and her newborn found in a Trichur lodge. The driver, who dropped the woman at the lodge on June 27, is currently in custody for questioning.
According to the police, the driver was familiar with the lodge staff, which explains his presence when the woman failed to answer repeated phone calls. He reported the lack of response to the lodge management, prompting them to alert the authorities.
Investigators are now examining the relationship between the driver and the deceased, as well as why the woman chose to stay alone at the lodge during the final stage of her pregnancy. The inquiry remains open while forensic analysis of the sealed room and post‑mortem reports are awaited.
