Police Register Case Against 17 Shiv Sena Members for Hospital Violence

Palghar police lodged a formal complaint on September 6 against 17 members of the Shiv Sena following a violent episode at a local relief hospital. The incident, which took place in the hospital’s corridor, involved party officials physically assaulting doctors, nurses, and support staff over a disagreement about a medical bill for participants injured during the Dahi Handi celebrations.

Video evidence from the hospital’s surveillance system shows a party official slapping a receptionist and a woman staff member being threatened when she tried to intervene. The footage also captures several senior party leaders entering the intensive care unit, where they allegedly forced a nurse to remove four drip lines from an injured participant before attempting to transport the patient off the premises.

The police report states that charges have been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Medical Services Protection Act. Among those named are the district head, the city head, and the son of a local legislator. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities reviewing CCTV records and collecting additional statements from witnesses.
