He pointed out that even individuals who consider themselves strict vegetarians or abstain from alcohol are not immune to metabolic disturbances if they consume processed foods high in refined carbs and bad fats. Early‑life factors also matter; children whose mothers gained excessive weight during pregnancy are predisposed to childhood obesity, which often progresses to serious metabolic changes during teenage years due to academic pressure and lack of playground space.
