National Translational Platform Introduces Cutting‑Edge Manufacturing for Surgical Implants

As part of the National Translational Platform, IIT Delhi has commissioned an advanced laboratory featuring a high‑precision CNC hub and an integrated sterilisation unit. The complex will enable engineers and clinicians to co‑develop next‑generation surgical implants and diagnostic probes.

The lab’s multi‑axis machining capabilities allow fabrication of intricate geometries required for patient‑specific implants, while the adjoining sterilisation wing guarantees that every device is free from contaminants before clinical use. The combination of rapid prototyping and on‑site aseptic processing is set to accelerate commercialisation of indigenous med‑tech solutions.

Officials highlighted that the centre also hosts thermal cyclers, real‑time PCR systems and trans‑blood testing rigs, providing a complete research ecosystem that bridges bio‑science and device engineering.
