Medical Team Provides Counselling and Referral for Expectant Mothers in Madhya Pradesh
Health officials from the District Hospital in Burhanpur organized a pre‑delivery screening camp on September 9 as part of the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood initiative. The event saw 43 pregnant women evaluated, with 15 flagged as high‑risk.
Gynecologists Dr. Poonam Singhal and Dr. Moina Ansari, along with nursing staff and community workers, offered individualized counselling on nutrition, mental health, and potential pregnancy complications. They also arranged referrals to higher‑level health centers for cases requiring advanced care.
Participants were introduced to the ‘Manhit’ app for mental‑health support and the 14416 helpline. Information about the Birth Waiting Area unit was shared to assist women from remote locations requiring close monitoring before delivery.
