Lieutenant Governor lauds Operation Drishti as a symbol of dedication
Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, lauded Operation Drishti for embodying the Indian Army’s spirit of service, bravery and unwavering resolve.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the second phase of the mega‑cataract surgery camp at the Chinara Auditorium, Sinha highlighted that the operation brought together doctors, medical teams and soldiers to treat patients who otherwise face extreme difficulty in obtaining modern eye care.
The eleventh camp recorded 446 successful surgeries, including those carried out in Tangdhar, Kupwara’s remote valley. Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra led a team that set up an underground operation theatre, allowing procedures to be performed safely despite rough terrain and security concerns.
More than 150,000 people received eye examinations, extending critical health services to far‑flung regions. The LG thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Army chief and the entire medical contingent for their dedication.
The mission reinforced the bond between the armed forces and the local populace, illustrating how the Army’s humanitarian outreach can transform lives and strengthen national unity in border areas.
