Lactogen Pro 1 scrutinised for misleading whey protein digestibility claim

Among the three adjudication cases, the FSSAI targeted Lactogen Pro 1 for promoting its whey protein as “easily digestible”. The regulator argued that such a claim conflicts with the 2020 infant nutrition regulations, which forbid unverified statements about product performance.

The authority examined the product’s listing on online retail sites and the associated marketing copy. After requesting clarification from Nestlé India, the FSSAI determined that the claim breaches rule 4(2) and the 1992 Act governing infant milk substitutes.

The matter is pending final adjudication. Nestlé India has not released a comment as of the publication of this report.
